Undefeated Since May 7th

Record 1-4

May 20, Game 5: vs. Blue Jays

WIN 16-11

Piotrowski, Chicago IL-- OK, here's what I remember. We spotted the BJs 7 in the first as we warmed ourselves up. Hell, we hadn't played in a while and half our team was on the DL (some others soon needed to be)...

Took the bats a little while to get going, and the BJs plunked slugger LG on the not-so-fucking funny bone in his first at-bat, forcing him out of the game early.

Fuckers.

Anyway, the Phantoms eventually started rallying back, gaining a few here and there until a rally in, what was it, the 7th?? Anyway, we scored a bunch of runs--so many in fact that we failed to keep track of them. Once that got straightened out it was suddenly tied at 10 (or somewhere thereabouts.)

The next inning we turned a sweet double play--we had one earlier too, but it was a little ugly. Fuck that. Semi-paying attention umpire said "that was the ugliest thing i ever saw." The next play, a 3rd out juggling act by Cesar rendered that observation moot.

Anyway, back to the sweet double play--at this point it was clear our shit was getting back together. the following half inning Jose knocked his first base hit of the season (this game was his first at-bat, so keep that in mind) so it was go time. Sly went in as a pinch runner and proceeded to score. Another run came in when speedster-Vic got into an intentional (?) run-down between 1st and 2nd.

9th. Bases get loaded, 1 down, big hitting lefty guy with the Eastbay credit card up to bat. He smacks a smokin' line drive which I take down like it was some kind of bitch at a bitch store. Tag first, double play, game over.

Note: Vic did not bring beer.

Second Note: Game lasted 3 hours and 51 minutes. wtf. I blame umps and long long breaks between innings.
